RESEARCH EXPERIENCE

Bachelor Thesis: Role of Cyclic AMP in Fetal Respiratory Distress Syndrome. High correlation
between low cyclic AMP levels and fetal respiratory distress syndrome found in maternal and
fetal lungs in murine streptozotocin induced diabetes. Levels correct at 48 hours after
administration of Dexamethasone.

Sponsor: Dr. M.S. Nijjar, Associate Professor, University of Manitoba Medical School, Winnipeg,
Canada

Fellowship Work: Total Lymphoid Irradiation and Specific Renal Graft Tolerance. Patients with
unmatched renal grafts became specifically unresponsive to donor type cells in MLR and CML.
Mechanism of tolerance by clonal deletion or active suppression.

Sponsor: Dr. S. Strober, Professor of Medicine and Chief of Division of Immunology and
Rheumatology, Stanford University School of Medicine, Stanford, California.

Role of Leu-1 Positive B Cells in Rheumatoid Arthritis and Systemic Lupus Erythematosus.
Although Leu-1 B cells do secrete autoantibodies, their levels are not elevated in RA or SLE.

Sponsor: Dr. S. Strober and Dr.Lenore Hertzenberg, Division of Immunology and Rheumatology
and Department of Genetics, Stanford University School of Medicine, Stanford, California.

Faculty Work T-lymphocyte subsets responding to Phospholipase A-2 the major bee venom

Alan Geller graduated from Long Island University in 1976, where he was awarded a Bachelors
of Science degree.  He has been certified by the National Board of Certification of Physicians
Assistants and has been re-certified every six years as required by the National Commission of
Physicians Assistants.

Alan Geller has worked in a variety of clinical settings in his 28 year career.   He has worked in
occupational medicine, dermatology, and for the last six year, prior to joining Dr. Dhillon’s
practice, in an allergy and asthma private practice.

As a physician assistant Alan is trained to diagnosis, treat, and prescribe for allergy and asthma
related illnesses.  Alan’s goal while working with patients is to allow them to live as healthy and
as normal a life as possible with their medical conditions.  He enjoys working with patients of all
age groups.
